In this case we will investigate the historically and geologically rich terrain of South Dartmouth in Southeastern Massachusetts. Because of its location students will be able to explore many possibilities to photograph the landscape in its many forms: forests, open meadows, pastures, wet land, shore, sea, agriculture and more.=0D=0A==0D=0A=Technical aspects of landscape photography, such as light, color, black & white and composition will be covered, as well as conceptual and historical approaches beginning with masters of the 19th and 20th century to the contemporary. Various styles and techniques will be discussed, including: Timothy O'Sullivan, Edward Weston, Richard Misrach, Barbara Bosworth and Eirik Johnson, to name a few.=0D=0A==0D=0A=Students will be encouraged to examine the landscape in its geological splendor, landscape as environment, metaphor, abstraction, the relationship of man to the land, remnants of American history within the landscape, among others. The course will provide students with more confidence in their approaches of photographing technically, conceptually and aesthetically &ndash; giving them a better understanding of ways to create beautiful and meaningful images.=0D=0A==0D=0A=This course is for intermediate amateur and beginning professional photographers.
