SOMERVILLE, MA – Mixed media artist, Chelsea Revelle incorporates uncanny collections of discarded wallpapers, dollhouse furniture and wood scraps captured in timeless box constructions repurposed from old cigar and wine containers. Through the exploration of assembled objects, this body of work entombs memories while depicting the presence of past life through intimate interiors, objects and colors take on a juxtaposed yet organic chaos. Each piece is carefully crafted where elements become suspicious figures, seemingly forever frozen in time as if preserved in a museum display. Revelle holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Illustration and has since then dabbled in graphic design, illustration and fine art. As Director of Arts & Culture at a local Boston non-profit, she has continued to enhance arts education opportunities by directing efforts of community engagement, arts programming and community classes through collaborations, school partnerships, and other arts & culture-related events and gallery exhibitions within the agency. In her spare time, you can find this Jamaica Plain resident riding her bike, scavenging thrift stores or assembling new work for the upcoming New Gallery Concert Series. Some past exhibitions include Lincoln Arts Project (Waltham), Hallway Gallery (Jamaica Plain) and Aurora Gallery (Worcester).
