Weyerhaeuser Curator of Prints, Division of European and American Art, Harvard Art Museums=0D=0A=In a monumental print, Kerry James Marshall foregrounds African American men in a rather ordinary social exchange within a sparse domestic interior. Dackerman will discuss the artist's woodcut techniques and art historical references to 17th-century genre painting, while Morgan will consider the implications of making aspects of Black Culture visible in contemporary art in the late '90s. Together they will examine how the artist complicates viewer expectations of the everyday lives of African Americans.=0D=0A=This series considers objects from more than one point of view.
