All are invited to meet the artist, on Saturday October 6th from 7 to 9pm. Michele Noiset has been a freelance illustrator for over twenty-five years since graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a degree in Illustration. She has worked on publishing, advertising, and editorial jobs for companies nationwide. Her drawings have been reproduced on many products from rugs to snowboards. She has illustrated children's games and puzzles, and has developed lines of greeting cards and Christmas ornaments. Her published illustrations are colorful, whimsical, and animated, usually painted traditionally in gouache and acrylics. Recently Michele took a departure from her whimsical illustration, returning to school to work on her MFA. She completed her studies at the University of Massachusetts/Dartmouth (UMD) in May 2011. As part of her thesis project, Michele worked on the theme of man's inhumanity to man using plots of dystopian novels as her inspiration. She worked entirely in the pastel medium, and developed a series of tightly rendered, closely cropped, and refined images. She continues to expand on the work she began for her master's, finding unlimited dystopian themes to build upon. The images shown at the Hyannis Harbor Arts Center at the Guyer Barn are a continuation of this project. Besides teaching full-time at UMD, Michele continues to pursue her freelance illustration business, and conducts Pastel Workshops and a 'Drawing Children' course at RISD. The artist can be reached at mnoiset@comcast.net www.michelenoiset.com and at www.michelenoisetpastels.com
