Boston's First Night Festival of the Arts, annually showcases the work of 1,000 artists in 200 performances and exhibits at 35 indoor and outdoor venues located throughout the downtown area on New Year's Eve. This signature Boston event is the oldest and largest of its kind in North America, typically attracting about one million people from throughout the region. For First Night Button holders, the event includes interactive activities for all ages, gigantic ice sculptures on display, two fireworks displays, and a parade that sweeps through the streets of Boston.=0D=0A=The Library will be providing face painting, winter themed arts and crafts, and crown making for the city&ndash;wide parade. We will also be hosting musical performances by three groups:=0D=0A=11:30 a.m: The Chinese Dulcimer Guzheng Youth Band (youth dulcimer group),=0D=0A=1:30 p.m.: Odaiko New England (Japanese taiko drummers),=0D=0A=3 p.m.: and the Back Bay Ringers (community handbell ensemble).=0D=0A=Official First Night Buttons will be on sale at the Library Shop, stop in anytime from Sunday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check out images from our 2012 celebration!=0D=0A=We hope to see you for this exciting event!
