DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: A Light in the Dark=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/441656338=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2013-01-27=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2013-01-27=0D=0A=0D=0AThe King's Chapel Choir & Soloists will sing a cappella works ranging from the Renaissance to today in a program entitled 'A Light in the Dark.' Taking Psalm 139:12, 'The darkness and the light are both alike to thee,' as a starting point, the choir explore the range of the human voice as an expression of shades of light in the dark. They begin the journey with the Light coming into the world in Graham Gordon Ramsay's 'Mirabile Mysterium,' then move on to a cry in the dark in Ildebrando Pizzetti's 'De Profundis.” Next, they take a secular detour to Claude Debussy's settings of fourteenth-century poetry by Charles d'Orléans. Also included are Eric Whitacre's 'Lux Aurumque' and works by Smith, Victoria, Praetorius, and Handl.
