SUMMARY:Winter Festival & Forum Series: Time as the Subject and Substance
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Event Name: Winter Festival & Forum Series: Time as the Subject and Substance=0D=0AEvent Url: http://www.artsboston.org/event/detail/53355=0D=0AEvent Date Begin: 2010-01-23=0D=0AEvent Date End: 2010-01-23=0D=0A=0D=0AThe series is part of a residency at MIT during its January Independent Activities Period (IAP) during which the entire community explores new experiences, topics, and modes of learning. The theme of this special series is time, primarily musical time, but also time as understood and experienced in a variety of disciplines and as the focus of a variety of works of chamber music. In addition to the forums and concerts, all are welcome to attend open rehearsals by BCMS musicians and scheduled meetings of MIT IAP class called Interdisciplinary Approaches to Musical Time during the week prior to each concert. Schedule to be posted on BCMS's and MIT's websites. The exploration is both multi-media and interdisciplinary across the arts and sciences using projections of film, painting, sculpture, and poetry. Panelists on each forum will engage topics that focus on their own work and the music of the evening. BCMS musicians will be on hand to demonstrate and discuss some of the music. Between each forum and performance patrons may also reserve dinner hamper in advance to continue the conversation with panelists.
