Think about the gift, for example, within the concept of Bataille's depénse or potlatch in which wealth manifests itself by squandering itself. I'm not convinced that art always values the rules of supply and demand. In these last few years, I've freely given away around 60,000 drawings and I continue to think that the more I make and give away, the more they rise in value. - Cesare Pietroiusti=0D=0A=Cesare Pietroiusti was the Coordinator of the Oreste projects, 1997-2001 and cofounder of Nomads & Residents, New York, 2000. Currently, he is a professor at the Laboratorio di Arti Visive, IUAV University, Venice. Recent solo exhibitions include Paradoxycal Economies, Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, Artworks that Ideas can Buy, Wilkinson Gallery, London. Recent group exhibitions include the 28th Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana, 2nd International Biennale, Athens, Performa 07, NYC, and the 3rd Tirana Biennial, Tirana.=0D=0A=Photo: Serge Domingie; courtesy the artist.=0D=0A=0D=0AStart time:7:00 pm
