Join the celebration as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater marks its 50th anniversary of bringing African-American cultural expression and the American modern dance tradition to the worlds stages. Alvin Ailey's genius changed forever the perception of American dance; today the legacy continues with Judith Jamison's remarkable vision and the extraordinary artistry of the company's dancers. Beauty, spirit, hope and passion are the trademark of this remarkable American institution. The company will dance a Boston premiere work on opening night with the live accompaniment of the incredible a capella vocal ensemble, Sweet Honey In The Rock. Don't miss Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's debut in the intimate evirons of Boston's Opera House, the first Celebrity Series performance at The Opera House since its renovation.
