THEATRE
The Importance of Being Earnest
Presented by Wellesley Summer Theatre Company at Schneider Center
June 4-June 28, 2009
|
Set in the late Victorian era the humor here derives from characters maintaining fictitious identities to escape unwelcome social obligations. It is replete with witty dialogue and satirizes some of the foibles and hypocrisy of that society. It is one of Wilde's most enduringly popular plays and has audiences howling with laughter.

The cast appeared to have enjoyed this as much as we did. It was light, lively and thoroughly entertaining.

This production really surprised me on how clever the dialog was, and how the puns and twists kept coming. The scenery, costumes, acting and story were fantastic!!!
