Masters of Cantabile
April 26, 2009
Puccini and Mahler; contemporaries, and both knew how to make the most of the human voice. This year we celebrate 150 years since Puccini's birth. Boston favorite, soprano Jayne West will join the Newton Symphony to sing O Mio Babbino Caro from Gianni Schicchi and the child's view of heaven in the last movement of Mahler's fourth symphony. The concert begins with the seldom heard Preludio Sinfonico by Puccini, for orchestra alone. Try the Newton Symphony Orchestra, there's free parking, a free pre concert lecture and great music! You'll wish you'd found us years ago.
