The London Sensation! Music by Richard Thomas; Book and Lyrics by Stewart Lee & Richard Thomas; Directed by Paul Daigneault
May 1 - June 7, 2009 The only work in history to earn "Best Musical" honors from all the major British award groups. Jerry Springer: The Opera is a fascinating mix of the high art and low culture. Shockingly funny and brilliantly original, the show introduces us to some unusual characters, each desperate for "their Jerry Springer moment."
Recommended for mature audiences.

"We loved it !!!!!"
Review posted by: Mary Ann and Howard from Watertown,MA, Jun 08, 2009
We have actually seen the play twice. Since it was extended we brought an out of town guest. The entire cast was very talented and extremely good in their roles. The play was irreverent, bawdy and... Expand

"Hot Mess"
Review posted by: pman1969 from boston, ma, Jun 08, 2009
While I was excited to see this show, I have to admit I thought it was a hot mess. The first half was fun, funny, a bit lude, but very enjoyable. It's the second half that ruined the entire... Expand

"Saw it in London & thought it was the worst show ever"

I saw it in 2005 because someone on the street had recommended it and I thought it was a complete waste of time.

"Superb performance"
Review posted by: Peaches from Boston, MA, May 26, 2009
The negative reviews are puzzling; this was a terrific performance (yes, for mature audiences only) of an intriguing play. It's been two weeks and I'm still humming "Talk to the Hand"!

Very talented cast with great voices, great staging. Loved ActII. Entertained and challenged me at the same time. Get to see this show.

"Non-Stop Laughter from start to finish"
Review posted by: SBF from Boston, MA, May 13, 2009
One of the most well done musicals I've seen in the area in years. The set was as if they had purchased the really Jerry Springer studio, the voices were unbelievable, the script is hilarious and... Expand

"Awesome Outrageousness"

So funny and so gutsy. I love that pretty much everyone can find something to be offended by. The singing and acting was great. Just a really good time.

"Not what you think"
Review posted by: cm from boston ma, May 11, 2009
This was really a very layered and elaborate piece of theater. Structure of a morality play, singing of an opera (fabulous voices!), not the silly imitation/parody you think you're going to get,... Expand

"Should be Bound for Broadway"
Review posted by: Avid Theatre Buff from Gloucester, MA, May 05, 2009
This show is truly amazing, although practitioners of various religions may not like it. It truly is an opera (primarily sung), and some of the voices are superb. Production values are very high... Expand

Review posted by: migceb from Melrose, MA, May 05, 2009
I really had high hopes for this but it left me cold. I love my theatre edgy, but all the "shocking" language and situations don't mean a thing if it's not mixed with cleverness. The last thing I... Expand

The first half of the show had some funny moments. I could not wait for the second half of the show to end. Don't waste your time seeing it.

Review posted by: toeachourown from MA, May 03, 2009
Impressed with itself, this "opera" goes for obvious humor over wit, and feels more like an extended collegiate skit than a full theatrical experience. Kudos for set, costumes, staging, some voices.... Expand
