March 14, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Alloy Orchestra's new score for the silent film "The Last Command" by Josef von Sternberg was a smash hit at both the Telluride and the New York film festivals this year. This dramatic psychological portrait of a humiliated soldier won actor Emil Jannings the first-ever Academy Award in 1928 for Best Actor. Magnificently photographed and brilliantly scripted, "The Last Command" helped von Sternberg earn the reputation as one of Hollywood's most cherished directors. A gorgeous new print has been provided by Paramount Pictures.
