Boston Ballet presents the company premiere of George Balanchine's Jewels. This unique program, a ballet in three parts, presents a miniature history of classical dance with references to ballet's French origins, Russia's imperial style, and Balanchine's own take on the art form. In presenting Jewels, Boston Ballet joins such major, international companies as The Royal Ballet/Covent Garden, the Paris Opera Ballet and the Maryinsky Theater's Kirov Ballet who have performed this work.Jewels premiered at New York City Ballet in 1967.
