Boston Midsummer Opera presents their summer 2009 production, Cosi Fan Tutte. Under the direction of Boston Midsummer Opera Artistic Director Drew Minter, the production will be sung in English and conducted by the nationally acclaimed Susan Davenny-Wyner. Founded in 2006, Boston Midsummer Opera has set its sights on presenting entertaining, accessible visions of opera, both well known and unfamiliar, at the highest possible level and at a reasonable price. BMO's talented young singers act their parts in savvy English translations, bringing operas both well known and unfamiliar to the delight of audience members both young and old.       Great for a summers evening, fun translation that glossed over the dark side of this supremely cynical play. Well acted and sung with plaudits to the soprano.

      Went to see it with my Mother, Daughter and Grandson...4 generations of opera lovers...We loved the fresh approach to the opera, great acting and good singing voices...My 5 years old grandson really... Expand

      Went to see it with my Mother, Daughter and Grandson...4 generations of opera lovers...We loved the fresh approach to the opera, great acting and good singing voices...My 5 years old grandson really liked it (although he did not understand the lyrics) and that's a sign of a good opera.       Although we have seen several updated Cosi's previously, this one was directed at the masses and was thoroughly enjoyable. The singing and acting were wonderful for a summer evening. The English... Expand

      Although we have seen several updated Cosi's previously, this one was directed at the masses and was thoroughly enjoyable. The singing and acting were wonderful for a summer evening. The English lyrics worked superbly and were easily understood. The pre-concert lecture was informative and set the stage for a delightful evening. Being treated to a live orchestra of spirited musicians kept everything moving well. Mozart would have approved and probably laughing with glee. It is always a pleasure to support local arts in our community and you have set the bar very high with this production. This production personified that fact that opera is not stuffy and "high art", but can be enjoyed by many. Collapse

      Thought the show was great fun - good voices, fine acting, and a witty and sometimes silly translation which brought things up to modern times in hysterical ways - Great energy. You leave smiling!
