BoSoma Dance Company presents their 5th annual spring season, WIPE, with guest company Tony William's Ballet Rox. This riveting evening of dance will include the debut of Co-Artistic Director, Katherine Hooper's duet, Between Lines, reflecting on the unseen truths of an individual's character revealed only when challenged by one's peers. BoSoma will perform Wipe, commisioned by Chicago based dancer, choreographer and teacher Eddy Ocampo. Ocampo has worked with companies such as Joel Hall Dancers, River North Chicago Dance Company and Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. This season Tony Williams, founder of Ballet Rox, brings his company to BoSoma's audience. Ballet Rox was founded in 1995 with the mission to use the power of dance to break down racial barriers. Recently Mr. Williams was presented the Wheel Award for his "Urban Nutcracker," recognizing "individuals who share the Theatre's commitment to children and families and whose work embodies the Theatre's belief that the arts can transform lives."
"A longtime Bostonian, Williams looks to his community to provide vivid ethnic and folkloric dances for his multicultural staging." ~ Kay Bourne, The Edge
"Athleticism and excitement are the signature calling cards of BoSoma, they use them to transcend all the barriers we use everyday to keep people, ideas, beliefs at a distance...." ~ David Polanzak, Arts & Entertainment Editor, Boston Events Guide
