The Songbird and the Soldiers, the next piece on the program will be danced to the solo harmonica music of Richard Hunter, who will play live for the March 28th performance. The third piece is the Limon Etude, and the last piece in the program, Dayspring Dayspring is a collaboration between the composer Delvyn Case (delvyncase.com) and Ms. Hassinger. . According to Mr. Case, "Dayspring, an archaic work for sunrise, is an apt title for a piece concerned with openings and beginnings. Many of the small-scale and large-scale musical elements of the piece are open-ended, with the goal of creating a satisfying yet fully unrealized musical experience. Like its visual inspiration, I hope Dayspring implies limitless possibility and joyful expectation. The intense quiet of the ending reminds me of the infinitesimal moment just before the first ray of light appears over the horizon." Dayspring will be played live on March 28th with Brady Millican on the piano and Rane Moore on clarinet. The company of seven dancers include Hannah Blitzblau, Jen Carr, Melissa Dupuis, Sarah Evans, Kendra Heithoff, Cathryn McCann and Mina Muraoka. Mrs. Hassinger is working with a new group of dancers who combine the breath and strength of modern dance with the line and musicality of ballet.
