Presented by at Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts

    February 19 - April 5, 2009

    Corbu Pops

The Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts presents "Corbu Pops", a specially commissioned piece by famed multimedia and performance artist William Pope.L (running through April 5). William Pope.L engages the Carpenter Center's uniquely modernist structure - famed architect Le Corbusier's only North American building -- in an erstwhile investigation of modernism, utopia, nonsense, blackness, purity, and factory production. Paying close attention to the structures and systems that create our built and lived environment, Pope.L's work uses avant-garde strategies such as the readymade, performance, and collage to question the institutionalization of philosophical ideas such as art and the psychic disturbances provoked by industrialization and modernity.
