A joint exhibition by Robert Maloney and Sean Thomas. Maloney and Thomas explore the modern world and its structures through two distinct techniques and viewpoints. Maloney layers icons of city life - billboard type, bolts, and bridges - to create 2D and 3D pieces that are both solid and fractured. Interweaving the old and new, Maloney uses mixed media to encapsulate a world of simultaneous construction and deconstruction. Thomas' atmospheric pieces present an alternate portrait of the modern environment. Cars, containers, and skylines subtly emerge from the smoke and fog. Using watercolor and oil, Thomas investigates the relationship between the natural and artificial elements of the urban landscape. Both Maloney and Thomas focus on the urban skyline and its paradoxical yet seamless fusion of the natural and the manmade.
