See ballet like never before! Experience the innovative and ground-breaking work of New England’s most prolific choreographer, Artistic Director Jose Mateo. Enjoy a new way to view ballet with cabaret-style seating, close-up view of the dancers, and cocktails during the show.
Revel Without A Cause features a world premiere by Mr. Mateo as a triumphant close to the company’s 22nd season. The concert features Reverie (premiered in 2003) set to Ravel’s Piano Concert in G. The Boston Globe called this work “high-speed hijinks, expertly danced…a buttery, slow motion duet that demonstrates Mateo’s facility in designing unusual partnerships.” The concert also includes the premiere of Revel Without A Cause set to Terry Riley’s 2004 composition, The Cusp of Magic for String Quartet and Pipa.
Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre’s Revel Without A Cause offers Boston audiences the only opportunity to see new classical ballet. Each work is customized for its glorious 5,000 square foot Sanctuary Theatre in Harvard Square for an intimate experience unlike any other in dance performance.
Program subject to change.
