October 6-October 27, 2009
Add Review/Comment
This course tells the story of New England architecture from 1640 to 1940. Explore building tradition, available technology, and how architecture evolved to suit the lifestyles of generations of New Englanders. Using high-style and vernacular examples from across New England, Historic New England staff trace changes in construction, style, and function in residential architecture in a series of lectures, culminating in a Saturday, October 31, workship that takes a close examination of the Codman Estate to help you to read your old house.
