THE MARY BAKER EDDY LIBRARY OPENS NEW EXHIBIT: "ALL IN HARMONY"WITH A MUSICAL CELEBRATION
WHO: The Mary Baker Eddy Library
WHAT: Grand Opening of a new exhibition featuring musical instruments owned by Mary Baker Eddy featuring performances by Zili Misik, Project STEP and the New England Conservatory Israeli Jazz Quintet
WHERE: The Mary Baker Eddy Library, 200 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston.
WHY: The Library is opening a new exhibition "All in Harmony" which explores the importance of music in the 19th and early 20th century and its significance in the life of Mary Baker Eddy, one of the most extraordinary women of her age. It features musical instruments owned by Eddy:
-A Prescott Upright Grand Piano, circa 1891
-A Victor Victrola from the Victor Talking Machine Company, circa 1908
-A pianola made The Aeolian Company circa 1908
-A Music Box made The Regina Company circa 1897 Plus an interactive kiosk allows the visitor to hear the sounds these late 19th and early 20th century instruments made
How: The "All in Harmony " exhibition and the opening celebration are free to the public. Access to the internationally-renowned Mapparium® and the Quest Gallery is $6 for adults and $4 others

About the Performers Zili Misik is an all-woman band originating from Berklee School of Music. Winning the Best of Boston Outstanding International Music Act award for 2008, Zili Misik blends Haitian, African, and Brazilian rhythms for their original creations and traditional folksongs. Project STEP (String Training and Education Program for Students of Color) prepares talented music students of color to enter the profession of classical music by providing an intense and comprehensive program of study. Project STEP is supported by New England Conservatory, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Boston University School of Music. New England Conservatory Israeli Jazz Quintet takes an active role in the community by performing at local schools. They specialize in jazz inspired by the many different cultures of the Middle East. The mission of New England Conservatory is the education and training of musicians of all ages from around the world.
