First performed in 1642- just 50 years after the birth of opera - Monteverdi's seminal work remains as richly current & intriguing today as it was more than three and a half centuries ago, exploring the abuse of power, the drive of lust, and the triumph of love.
Pre-concert talks and instrumental fanfares begin 90 minutes prior to each performance, except opening night on Saturday, June 6.
