The arts can be a powerful force in shaping the identity of communities. Artist studios, art galleries, cultural festivals, and music venues both express and build a community's identity. But the arts also generate millions of dollars in annual revenue and can transform a community in many ways. But how can - and should - urban communities leverage the arts to stimulate economic development? Additionally, what are some strategies that a community must consider when cultivating an arts identity? Join Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, Chair of the Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development, for a conversation about these issues and their implication for Boston neighborhoods. Wally's Cafe, 427 Mass Ave. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
