In early 2008, she signed to Virgin and released her acclaimed debut Alas I Cannot Swim, which garnered a Mercury Prize nomination and catapulted her onto the international scene. Now not quite 20 and touring in support of her new recording, I Speak Because I Can due out April 6 on Astralwerks, Marling seems wiser than her years with a warm folk-pop style, undercut by dark themes and hints of psychedelia.
