    This talk will address four works that engage provocatively with the traditions of painting and sculpture and are shaped by issues in postwar German society: Gerhard Richter's Table (1962), Georg Baselitz's Curly Head (1967), Joseph Beuy's Back Support for a Fine-Limbed Person (Hare-Type) of the 20th Century A.D. (1972), and Rosemarie Trockel's Shutter (c) (2006).
