45 portrait artists from the Northeast will be showing their graphite, pastel, watercolor and oil portraits. Some specifically important corporate portraits are on loan from institutions such as Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, both of Boston, MA and the Picower Institute, Cambridge,MA. This is the only art gallery known to have a changing portrait exhibit every year. It is a great way to see a lot of artists work in one location and to be able to compare the different styles as well as mediums. The portraits are not for sale, rather they are on exhibit, to show as best examples by many different artists. Prices to commission a specific artist are not readily available, but they are by speaking with Francesca Anderson. There are three main categories of portraits on view : corporate, private and pet portraits. In between the over 70 portraits on 2 floors of the gallery hang small landscapes or small still lifes, which “rest the eyes” in between all the portraits. The small paintings are for sale and are a representative sampling of the gallery’s realist artists. Sat. May 1 1-3 pm free children's event. 2 artists will be at the gallery to help paint and draw.
