Add Review/Comment
Long regarded one of the world's finest guitarists, Al Di Meola has a highly celebrated career spanning a variety of emotions that has forged his unique style. Vaulting into the musical spotlight in 1974 with the history making "Return to Forever," (the band that prompted the phrase jazz/fusion), with Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea, and Lenny White, Al Di Meola instantly became recognized as the most innovative artist to play the electric guitar. After 21 solo records and various collaborations as part of such critically acclaimed musical groups as "Super Guitar Trio" with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia, and "Rite of Strings," a beautifully orchestrated acoustic trio consisting of Al, Stanley Clarke, and Jean Luc Ponty, he formed one of the most unusual acoustic bands on the planet, "World Sinfonia." After 2008’s reunion tour of "Return to Forever," this exquisite guitarist has now re-formed "World Sinfonia." The latest version of the original World Sinfonia acoustic band is a sextet featuring an exotic blend of instruments including acoustic guitar, cajon, bass, drums, and accordion. Acoustic brilliancy.
