"Although they hail from London, the members of Alberta Cross have clearly spent their lives soaking up the sounds of American rock music. Whether with thunderous blues guitar or more subdued, rootsy Americana sounds, they produce songs that sound at once contemporary and knowledgeable of the past. Given their decidedly American sound, it's fitting that Alberta Cross recently relocated to Brooklyn. The band wasn't there for long, however, before it de-camped to Austin for the recording of its debut album, The Broken Side of Time. Following a self-produced EP, 2007's The Thief and the Heartbreaker, Alberta Cross' new album finds the band further honing the sound that gained it comparisons to The Raconteurs, The Black Keys and Kings of Leon. With an opening slot on tour with its fellow scorching blues-rockers in Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Alberta Cross seems poised to reach the heights of some of its established peers."
