A Day to Experience China in Acton at NARA Park In conjunction with the Town of Acton’s 275th Anniversary, Acton Chinese Language School, Acton Recreation Department, and Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council proudly present "2010 Acton Chinese Culture Day" on Saturday, June 5th at NARA Park, 25 Ledge Rock Way in North Acton. This unprecedented Chinese cultural event in Acton features exciting and fantastic programs offering a wide spectrum of Chinese culture throughout the entire day from 10:00am to 5:00pm. A professional Dragon Dance group from Boston Chinatown will perform a traditional dragon dance at 1:30pm. This will be the very first time in the history of Acton, that a grand dragon dance will take place at NARA Park. You and your kids wouldn’t want to miss out on this exciting and historical moment! In addition, several renowned Chinese music, dance, martial arts, yo-yo, drum groups from the local and greater Boston area will present a 2-hour high quality Chinese performing arts program at the NARA Amphitheatre from 2:00-4:00pm free of charge. For food lovers, authentic cuisine from famous Chinese restaurants of Acton and greater Boston will be sold from 11:30am-1:30pm. Chinese desserts, specialty Chinese food, water, and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day. A Chinese tea tasting tent will be set up for you to sit down and relax. The tea store will showcase a selection of over 80 varieties of tea. Longing for a piece of traditional Chinese clothing or art work? Chinese stores from Boston will come to NARA to sell Chinese souvenirs, traditional clothing, Chinese paintings, art work, and more. There will be a Chinese Painting and Calligraphy exhibition to showcase art work from both professional artists and students of Acton Chinese Language School painting class. Chinese artists will showcase paintings and write names in Chinese for you free of charge. If you are a plant lover, please go to the Chinese Bonsai tent to enjoy the wonder and beauty of Chinese Bonsai. Are you wondering what traditional Chinese kids games are? Please bring you children to enjoy the lively Chinese games such as Jump Square, Kick Jianzi, Chinese Jump Rope and Chinese YoYo. A Dragon Inflatable Moonbounce and Obstacle Course will be installed on site for younger kids to have a great fun. Book vendors will be selling Chinese books, CDs and DVDs. Please check them out for your leisure reading, learning or entertainment. A documentary film about China will be played throughout the day. Are you amazed by the complexity of Chinese herb medicines and acupunctures? Don’t miss the acupuncture demonstration tent! Chinese medicine doctors will provide free consultation. To extend this day of experience in China, please stop by our “2010 Acton Chinese Culture Day” t-shirt tent sale. You can choose to purchase from two specially designed cultural t-shirts: one with “Acton theme” and “Acton & China combination theme”. These are wonderful souvenirs to have!
