Walk behind the scenes - literally - into the verdant backyard gardens and green spaces of Highland Park/Fort Hill. View a rich profusion of flowers, a working farm, orchard, community gardens and prize winners from the Mayor's annual garden competition. Visits include: Cooper Education Center and Community Garden Garden Girl Farm Rodney Singleton (winner of the mayor's Window Box/Tree Pit Garden award) Don Mawson & Bill Lottero (winners of the mayor's Large Yard Garden award) The tour is led by the aptly-named Tom Plant, Director of Special Projects in the Environmental Health Office of the Boston Public Health Commission and is co-presented by Common Boston. Like the gardens, this tour happens rain or shine. Be sure to wear sturdy, comfortable shoes for walking up and down irregular ground. Meet at the Cooper Educational Center and Community Gardens, 34 Linwood St, 10am. Limit: 40 people.
