This documentary takes aim at TV-magnate and president Silvio Berlusconi’s media empire and the ways in which trash-TV has come to subvert and manipulate culture and politics in Italy. His channels filled with young scantily clad women, are seen by many to mirror his own taste and personality. Italian-born director Erik Gandini portrays the consequences of a television experiment that Italians have been subjected to for 30 years. Gaining unique access to the most powerful media spheres, he unveils a remarkable story, born out of the scary reality of Italy’s ”TV-Republic.” “Brilliantly pulled off… a documentary horror sci-fi set in the present.” (Lee Marshall, Screen International).
