    Idina Menzel is an American actress, singer and songwriter from Long Island. She is widely known for originating the roles of Maureen in Rent and Elphaba in Wicked. Menzel received a Tony nomination for her performance as Maureen Johnson in the original cast of Rent. She won the Best Leading Actress Tony for Elphaba. Most recently, a guest spot has turned into a reoccurring role in the critically acclaimed and highly watched high school singing show GLEE on the Fox Network. Get ready to see Menzel on FOX-TV this spring!

    Otherwise known as "America's Orchestra," The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, with conductor Keith Lockhart performs hundreds of shows in Boston, across the US and internationally. The annual 4th of July concert from the Esplanade in Boston attracts over 300,000 people and is viewed by more than 20 million on CBS. “Evening at Pops”, the longest running concert program on television is broadcast nationwide 13 times each season.

    The July 31st performance will focus on the Broadway numbers made famous by Menzel’s originating roles in Wicked and Rent. We can also expect to hear selections from Menzel’s a powerful collection of exquisite new songs written by the Tony Award winning actress/singer/songwriter. With Idina’s one-of-a-kind soaring voice and the talent of legendary Grammy winning producer Glen Ballard, the album is filled with pop tunes and heartfelt ballads.
