"Tide Rising," "Summer Sick as Love"
June 30-July 31, 2010
Add Review/Comment
June 30 – July 31 Gallery I. Constance Jacobson: “Tide Rising.” Many of Jacobson’s images are a recognition of the inevitability of one’s decline and fear about the loss of brain function. They are also a recognition that we are watery creatures—we came from the sea and ultimately depend on it for our survival. Gallery II. Suzanne Schireson: “Summer Sick as Love.” Starting with personal history as a platform for narrative, Schireson constructs very large paintings where figures are consumed by tasks of decoration or play. Using herself a model, Schireson’s own likeness inhabits each painting acting as an entry point into the painted world. Opening Reception: Friday, July 9, 6 – 8:30 pm.
