July 28, 2010
Add Review/Comment
The Boston Landmarks Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 as well as excerpts from Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Tosca” with Boston Lyric Opera. Charles Ansbacher will conduct the symphony and Andrew Bisantz will conduct the opera excerpts. The Boston Landmarks Orchestra continues the Landmarks Festival at the Shell with a performance of Beethoven’s fifth. This symphony is one of Beethoven’s most famous pieces and is probably one of the most frequently performed pieces of classical music today. The orchestra, with the help of Boston Lyric Opera, will also perform excerpts from Puccini’s Tosca, with soprano Jill Gardner, who will sing the title role in BLO’s production in November. Tosca, celebrated for its realism, was on OPERA America’s 2008 list of the 20 most performed operas in North America.
