The Gin Game is a Pulitzer Prize winning, 2-act comedic-tragedy by D.L. Coburn that premiered at American Theater Arts in Hollywood in September 1976. Weller Martin (played by Bob Nuss) and Fonsia Dorsey (played by Karen McPherson) are two residents at a nursing home who strike up an acquaintance. Weller offers to teach Fonsia how to play gin rummy, and they begin a series of games, engaging in conversations about their families and their lives in the outside world. Gradually, each conversation becomes a battle, much like the ongoing gin games. Directed by Millie Sheerin.
