    The Distinguished Writers Series: Maryse Condé

    A native of Guadeloupe, Maryse Condé is the founder of the French and Francophone Studies program at Columbia University, one of several academic institutions where she has taught. The Grand Prix Litteraire de la Femme ranks among her literary honors.
