Beginning Harmonica with Lloyd Thayer
September 16 - October 21, 2010
Thursdays [8:00 pm - 9:15 pm] Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21 Would you like to add another instrument to your repertoire, without carrying yet one more thing around? Well, have we got the instrument for you! Not only is a harmonica cheap, and fun to play, it easily fits in your pocket and can go anywhere with you. This class will start at the very beginning with basic techniques and move through a variety of styles, including straight harp and cross harp. We will explore the music of players like Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young, and then move on to the blues styles of Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, and Sonny Terry. No experience necessary; all levels are welcome. Students will need to provide a diatonic harmonica in the key of C. If you have questions about purchasing a harmonica, or the class, you can email the instructor at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Classes are held at 26 Church Street. Please ring the buzzer downstairs and come up to the third floor. For more information, call Sarah at 617-491-2382.
