Sticking Their Necks Out: Inspiring Stories for and about Giraffes

An African song and drum ceremony and family picnic Sunday, August 8th from 5 to 7 pm on the lawn of Calvary United Methodist Church 300 Mass Ave, East Arlington (held indoors in case of inclement weather) Families are invited to bring a picnic dinner and gather with Queen Allotey-Pappoe, a storyteller from Ghana, and local drummer Nisha Purushotham. Meet Georgina and Sandy, the 5-ft and 3-ft papier mache mascots of ARTBEAT Creativity Store and Studio (http://www.artbeatonline.com) who are looking for songs and stories about people who "stick their necks out" to do good things for the community. Learn how to tell your own family stories. Beverages and snacks provided.
