Presented in rotating repertory
By David Edgar, adapted from the Charles Dickens novel
Directed by Elliot Norton Award Winner Spiro Veloudos
Associate Director, Courtney O'Connor
Including Leigh Barrett, Peter A. Carey, Neil A. Casey, Larry Coen, Jack Cutmore-Scott, Kerry Dowling, Nigel Gore, Maureen Keiller, Will Lyman, and more!
New England Premiere-"Love, sex and money, poverty and exploitation, hope and despair: Dickens' world is vividly brought to life in David Edgar's adaptation of his 1838 novel." (The Times, London) According to Producing Artistic Director Spiro Veloudos, "this new, shorter adaptation streamlines the narrative, and captures Dickens' genius for combining exuberant characters, theatrical spectacle, and genuine emotion." A cast of 25 plays over 150 characters in this remarkable two-part epic. Winner of both the Tony Award (R) for best play (1982) and The Olivier Award for Play of the Year (1980), it has never been produced in Boston. We're pulling out all the stops for this incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"...teeming with character, atmosphere and incident, a place where humanity rules until, eventually, virtue is triumphant." (The New York Times)
Due to the special repertory nature of this production, please see the calendar at www.lyricstage.com for the schedule of the two different parts
