The Honorable Thomas M. Menino and Hub Media are pleased to announce that the Boston Urban Music Festival will take place on Saturday, August 7th, from 3-7pm on City Hall Plaza. Formally known as the Peace Hip-Hop Festival, the Boston Urban Music Festival will feature a full spectrum of urban music including Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa with his charismatic and hammering execution of rhymes, and former Harvard student turned producer/songwriter/singer Ryan Leslie, nominated last year as “Best New Artist” and “Best Male R&B” artist at the BET Awards. The event kicks off with local flavor from Lynn lyricist M-Dot, who recently clinched the title of Best Hip-Hop Artist in the WFNX Boston 2010 Best Music Poll. Quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with, M-Dot is a main stay of college radio around the country. This young trio of bonafide star power is sure to deliver a show which will please every hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, and Pop lover from around the city and beyond. Again this event is free!
