  During my short stay in Boston at the beginning of May, I attended the May 7th presentation of Les Indes galantes. I had seen this opera in Montréal, 20 or 30 years ago by le Théâtre de la Monnaie of Bruxelles: a lavish production. I recalled having been fascinated by the extravagance of it all, but would not go and see it again. This time , I would go and see the Boston Baroque production again. I'm sure I would discover something I did not notice the first time! It's one of the best productions I have seen in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the directing: lively, creative, ingenious, not one dull moment, with a lot of inventivity. Most of the singers were also good actors and they knew how to move and to fill the stage, in front of the orchestra. Being from Canada and of Acadian origin as is Nathalie Paulin, I have a special accolade for her! I had heard her before, but never in a role of such "envergure".   We left during intermission, it was really strange contemporary and really waste of the evening. Music was good but the performance was absolutely horrid.
