Encounter: an evening length’s work of contemporary dance theater explores various kinds of encounter, from encounter with the divine to gravity to military using poems, songs and stories. Poems by Sufi poet Kabir, Bhakti poet Akka Mahadevi, songs including Bob Marley’s and a short story by Mahasweta Devi are part of the encounters. Choreography is inspired by Indian dance, world music, theater and martial art (Kalari ppayattu.) Choreography and Direction: Aparna Sindhoor and Anil Natyaveda Script and Concept: S M Raju and Aparna Sindhoor Performance: Aparna Sindhoor, Anil Natyaveda, Rajesh Raveendran, Raghu Narayanan, Smitha Radhakrishnan, Vyvyane Loh, Soumya Ramanathan and Jill Cunningham. Critics have called Sindhoor and Natyaveda's work: "Honest and exquisite" "Captivating" This performance is partially funded by the Chahara Foundation and Cambridge Arts Council
