Ever since the release of Rock Band, self-proclaimed rock enthusiasts have been sprouting up everywhere, sporting their AC/DC new-yet-vintage t-shirts and playing the air guitar. Yet as any real rock lover would tell you, knowing most of the words to “Stairway to Heaven” does not make you a rocker. On that note, the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) is inviting all true rock fanatics to join Jed Gottlieb, music reporter and feature writer for The Boston Herald, as he teaches us how to harness our musical opinions and channel them into a music critique worthy of Rolling Stone accreditation in the new class, The Basics of Writing Rock Criticism. This is a two session course on Tuesday, September 28th and October 5th from 6:00PM-9:00PM where you'll learn specifically what to listen for, how to organize your opinions, and the secrets to actually writing a critique. After session one, Gottlieb encourages you to rock out and write on; you’ll evaluate one concert and one album of your choosing to see if they meet your rock standards. On the final session students will share and discuss their reviews with one another in order to receive valuable feedback for future rants and raves.

Tuition is $85.00, $75.00 for BCAE members.
