      It was an absolute treat! My 7 year old daughter loved the hot air balloon and sat with her mouth dropped the whole time. I had forgotten just how beautiful the Opera House was...it was just pure... Expand

      It was an absolute treat! My 7 year old daughter loved the hot air balloon and sat with her mouth dropped the whole time. I had forgotten just how beautiful the Opera House was...it was just pure holiday magic! I can't guarantee I could afford every year, (but oh how I would love to) but I can guarantee we will be back again and again. Uncle Drosselmeier and Clara were fantastic and it was a great cast all around. The set and choreography were brilliant. I don't think I could say enough. We bought a Nutcracker at the concession stand and my daughter walked around for days pretending she was Clara - just loving the Nutcracker. My minor (and I mean minor) criticism was that the second act wasn't quite as awe inspiring as the first, but that's like saying the cake wasn't as good as the frosting. Worth putting on anyone's bucket list. Collapse

      This year's Nutcracker is excellent! I went to the 12/17 7:30pm show. Clara is a beautiful young ballerina who is clearly going places. The Sugar Plum Fairy was the best I've seen in years! Such elegance and grace! Effortless! The reason for 4.5 stars instead of 5 is that the "nutcracker" turned into a "real man" at the side of the stage. I've been to shows in the past where he's transformed in the middle of the stage, which makes it a much more intriguing scene. So, I thought the way they did it this year was kind of a cop-out. However, overall it was a charming, enchanting, wonderful show that was over too quickly and I wished it could've lasted all night! Collapse

      The performance was wonderful as usual. It was second performance for my 5 years old daughter and she loved it just like first time. I have no complain what so ever, however I would like to suggest one thing with intermission since Nutcracker is the traditional performance that welcomes small children. With my experience, the intermission is not long enough to cover both restroom time and grab something to drink. I took my daughter to restroom as soon as possible, therefore did not need to be on the line for long time. However as we came out of the restroom, all bars had a long line so that she couldn't get a drink. By the time performance was over, there was no store to sell drinks in the neighborhood. You can't make changes with restrooms, but I wonder if you could have soft drink section more for childrens to grab drink. It doesn't need to be with classy drink bar for adults I personally think, and make it noticeable. This will help a lot of parents and children. Collapse

      I hadn't seen the Nutcracker since it moved to the Boston Opera House. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and I think the Opera House is a much better venue for the ballet. It is beautifully restored. I loved the ballet! The principal dancers, the corps de ballet and of course the young dancers were wonderful! The staging seemed fresh and lively. I didn't know what to expect for seating, so I was thrilled being in the center of the mezzanine. Perfect view! An altogether lovely experience! Collapse

      This year, I brought my 6yo son and 5yo daughter to their very first performance of Boston Ballet's Nutcracker. It was truly a magical experience for them. Although both are hearing impaired, we did not seek out special seats. The aucostics were just fine for them and the view from the Mezzanine was excellent. A must see for every child!! Collapse

      No one can beat the Boston Ballet's "Nutcracker" when it comes to spectacle and tradition. It is part of a cultural heritage that weaves itself into the imaginations of generations. Our grown daughters grew up experiencing this tradition and now we have had the opportunity to share it with our foster daughter. Thank you for this gift. Collapse

      I thought the dancing was wonderful, the costumes beautiful-even the orchestra,although muffled because of the bad accoustics,was wonderful, however, the Boston Opera House is past its prime.... Expand

Allowing patrons to take cups to their seats only to hear the echo of dropped cups all during the performance! A Baby started screaming during the Sugar Plum Fairy's dance and the mother would not take the child out! The audience was horrendous-I felt sorry for the dancers wasting their time with the swine and the seats sucked. Collapse

      I waited for my children to be old enough to really appreciate and enjoy the Nutcracker. I must say it was a truly magical experience. The set was beautiful and the costumes were amazing. The amount of talent on that stage from all of the great dancers was just unbelievable! We hit a ton of traffic going in to see the show on a Friday night....in the middle of the performance, my 10 year old daughter whispered in my ear "Mom this was totally worth the traffic". Need I say more? I highly recommend this for children who are old enough to really appreciate the amazing Nutcracker experience by Boston Ballet! Collapse

      I really loved this event. I've been to Jose Mateo Nutcracker for the last 4 years, and this one is way better, with great special effects and the children are very active in their roles. The only think I didn't like was the last Nutcracker dance...it was way too long, and he kept on coming back! Other than that, a great holiday tradition! Collapse

      The Boston Ballet Nutcracker never ceases to thrill me. My children are in their late 20's and we used to go together to the ballet when they were little. This year I was accompanied by a 13 year old friend who hadn't seen it before and once again it proved to be a fantastic evening. Our favorite characters were the dancing bear and the mice. This year the fancy dress circle seats weren't in our budget, but seeing it from above in the balcony was still FANTASTIC! Collapse

      I thought the dancing was wonderful, the costumes beautiful-even the orchestra,although muffled because of the bad accoustics,was wonderful, however, the Boston Opera House is past its prime. Allowing patrons to take cups to their seats only to hear the echo of dropped cups all during the performance! A Baby started screaming during the Sugar Plum Fairy's dance and the mother would not take the child out! The audience was horrendous-I felt sorry for the dancers wasting their time with the swine and the seats sucked. Collapse

      I waited for my children to be old enough to really appreciate and enjoy the Nutcracker. I must say it was a truly magical experience. The set was beautiful and the costumes were amazing. The amount of talent on that stage from all of the great dancers was just unbelievable! We hit a ton of traffic going in to see the show on a Friday night....in the middle of the performance, my 10 year old daughter whispered in my ear "Mom this was totally worth the traffic". Need I say more? I highly recommend this for children who are old enough to really appreciate the amazing Nutcracker experience by Boston Ballet! Collapse

      I really loved this event. I've been to Jose Mateo Nutcracker for the last 4 years, and this one is way better, with great special effects and the children are very active in their roles. The only think I didn't like was the last Nutcracker dance...it was way too long, and he kept on coming back! Other than that, a great holiday tradition! Collapse

      We had great seats! Center, six rows back. This was a pleasant surprise. I felt like I was in the ballet, the show was festive and energetic.

      I took a 9 year old who was thoroughly enchanted with the ballet. I felt that the abbreviated show was a perfect length for (the attention span of) children. And the show has something for everyone-great music, great dancing, great sets---GREAT PRODUCTION ! As usual, the dancing and production standards were 'up to' Boston Ballet's standards. Collapse

      The Boston Ballet Nutcracker never ceases to thrill me. My children are in their late 20's and we used to go together to the ballet when they were little. This year I was accompanied by a 13 year old friend who hadn't seen it before and once again it proved to be a fantastic evening. Our favorite characters were the dancing bear and the mice. This year the fancy dress circle seats weren't in our budget, but seeing it from above in the balcony was still FANTASTIC! Collapse
