    Double Bill: It's Complicated and Crazy for You

    The enterprising Baroque ensemble Musica Nuova presents a double bill of early English and Italian songs and instrumental works, exploring the trials of unrequited love and the tribulations of mad love. In the first half, It’s Complicated, which takes its name from the Facebook relationship status, portrays a lovelorn character through the music of Monteverdi, Strozzi, Merula, and Frescobaldi. In the second half, acclaimed storyteller...

    The enterprising Baroque ensemble Musica Nuova presents a double bill of early English and Italian songs and instrumental works, exploring the trials of unrequited love and the tribulations of mad love. In the first half, It’s Complicated, which takes its name from the Facebook relationship status, portrays a lovelorn character through the music of Monteverdi, Strozzi, Merula, and Frescobaldi. In the second half, acclaimed storyteller Doria Hughes joins the ensemble for a fresh take on the legend of Bess of Bedlam, featuring Purcell, Eccles, and songs and tunes from 17th century England.
