    THE BIG BROADCAST OF 1946

Four evenings of radio comedy and drama The Post Meridian Radio Players (PMRP) present more 'lost' classics from Boston’s radio history! Travel back to the Golden Age of Radio, to the night of Sunday, October 27th, 1946, where the WPM studios in the Rooftop Gardens Auditorium of the old Putnam-Moore Department Store in downtown Boston presented: The FRANK CYRANO BYFAR HOUR "The Byfar Hour" was WPM's hit comedy/variety show, hosted by local boy made sorta good, Frank Cyrano, and sponsored by Byfar Coffee Syrup. The 1946 Halloween broadcast finds Frank Cyrano trying to get Boris Karloff on his show. There's only a few hours left to air and Frank is in a panic: it looks like he's failed to get Boris and only a miracle will save the show now! Joining Frank Cyrano as always are his wife, Amelia Adams; the lovely Miss Jenny Brennan, the cool cat Lex Concord and the Minutemen, the unflappable Charley Kendall and the whole Chowderhouse Gang. Music for the Byfar Hour will be performed by members of Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band! and The TOMES OF TERROR A local Halloween tradition, WPM’s classic fright-fest, "Tomes of Terror" featured tales of terror presented by your host, The Bookkeeper. This year's two macabre stories are: "But Oh, What Happened to Hutchings?" by Roy Sallows, Directed by Gilly Rosenthol "The Sirens of War" by Alicia E. Goranson, Directed by Jess Viator Approximate run-time: 2hrs 30min There will be four performances: Thursday, October 28 at 8 PM Friday, October 29 at 8 PM Saturday, October 30 at 8 PM Sunday, October 31 at 2 PM The October 31st performance will feature a costume contest in honor of Halloween. Prizes will be awarded to the best 1940s inspired costume! Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 the day of the performance.
