    Celebration of Contemporary African Fiction

Coinciding with the launch of AGNI's Portfolio of African Fiction, this multi-part event will commence with a 4:00 p.m. panel discussion on contemporary African fiction, moderated by E.C. Osondu — acclaimed Nigerian author and coeditor of the Portfolio (BU’s African Studies Center, 232 Bay State Road, Boston). The discussion will be followed by a reading and subsequent celebration at 7:00 p.m., and will feature four of the Portfolio's contributing writers (BU’s Photonics Center Auditorium – Room 206, 8 St. Mary’s Street, Boston). Participants will include Henrietta Rose-Innes, coming from her home country of South Africa, the Ugandan writer Doreen Baingana — flying in from Kenya, the acclaimed Nigerian novelist and story-writer Helon Habila, and Zimbabwean author Bernard Matambo. The event is cosponsored by AGNI, BU's Center for African Studies, and PEN New England.
