Nick Flynn (Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, The Ticking is the Bomb) explores the past with an eye toward impending fatherhood. Jerald Walker (Street Shadows: A Memoir of Race, Rebellion and Redemption) describes his escape from drugs and violence in a crime-ridden Chicago housing project.
