Susan Senator is the nationally known and respected author of The Autism Mom's Survival Guide and Making Peace with Autism: One Family's Story of Struggle, Discovery, and Unexpected Gifts. A mother of three boys, Senator became author out of necessity after her oldest son was diagnosed with autism in 1993. Using writing as a way to navigate and research the new world of an autism mom, Senator's shared stories and hard won wisdom resonated widely with those loving and living with autistic children. Through essays, articles, books and television interviews, Senator has openly and honestly shared both the hardships and heart warming stories of her own experience as a way of reaching out to help families in similar circumstances. Featured as a guest on local as well as national media including MSNBC, NPR and the Today Show, Senator speaks with a strong voice of advocacy powered by the heart of a loving parent. This evening she will share her story and discuss her latest thoughts regarding living a healthy and happy life with autistic loved ones.
